'Beautifully Impressive' Avalanche in Teton Range Caught on Video

A huge avalanche on Taylor Mountain in Teton Pass, Wyoming, was captured on video on January 15 by a mountain guide studying ski tracks, local media reported.Ski mountaineer Kim Havell told Storyful she recorded the video from a distance at Mail Cabin Creek.“I was studying the tracks on the face and watched the avalanche propagate,” Havell said. She told the Jackson Hole News & Guide that the avalanche was a “beautifully impressive and intimidating thing.”The Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center confirmed there was a large hard slab type avalanche. The center also reported the avalanche danger was considerable and “over the past few days, many large to very large avalanches occurred.”Local news outlets reported that the Teton County Search and Rescue were called to fly over the mountain to ensure no one was caught in the snow. No injuries have been reported.Officials told the Jackson Hole News & Guide they believe the avalanche was triggered by a skier or snowboarder. Credit: Kim Havell via Storyful
